Ajaye

Ajaye is a two-time AUDELCO Award winning actor, who began performing onstage at a young age in ensembles for such productions as Annie, Grease and Tom Sawyer. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and was a part of the Arena Players and a local Drama club in Baltimore, where his love for performing grew. While in Baltimore, Ajaye sang in a gospel trio called The Fruit of the Spirit for several years, until his move to New York City in 1993. Since residing in New York City, Ajaye has been able to perform in many productions on various stages, and has also performed on tour through the National Black Touring Circuit. Some of his theater credits include Accept 'Except' LGBT NY, Home in Her Heart, Stealin' Home, Sally and Tom (The American Way), Playing with Heiner Muller, and The Task. He has performed with the comedy improv group, The Proverbial Loons, served as a vocal coach, and was a co-teacher for an Acting for Everyone class. Ajaye also sang at Lincoln Center for a theater Gala, performed in many staged readings, films, and TV. Being an avid writer, he has also self-published two books, and wrote a stage play entitled Forbidden Fruit, which was presented as a staged reading at the 2017 National Black Theater Festival and onstage in 2021 at the New York Theater Festival. Ajaye is an out and proud transgender man who is the Founder and CEO of Towdah Unlimited Productions, LLC.
