Ajaye Jenkins began performing onstage at a young age in ensembles for productions including Annie, Grease, and Tom Sawyer. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he was a part of the Arena Players and a local drama club where his love for performing grew. During his Baltimore years, Ajaye sang in a gospel trio called The Fruit of the Spirit before relocating to New York City in 1993.

Since making New York his home, Ajaye has performed across many stages and on national tour through the National Black Touring Circuit. His theater credits include Accept 'Except' LGBT NY, Home in Her Heart, Stealin' Home, Sally and Tom (The American Way), Playing with Heiner Müller, and The Task. He has performed with the comedy improv group The Proverbial Loons, served as a vocal coach, and co-taught an Acting for Everyone class. He also sang at Lincoln Center for a theater gala.

An avid writer, Ajaye has self-published two books and authored the stage play Forbidden Fruit, which was presented as a staged reading at the 2017 National Black Theater Festival and produced onstage at the New York Theater Festival in 2021. He is the Founder and CEO of Towdah Unlimited Productions, LLC.
